Design Search Engine Friendly Website

While designing a website, make sure that the website is search engine friendly. Most of the popular search engines have the common way to crawl the website and  indexing the website. Some the points to be remembered are


1. Title

Choose a good title for your article or page, title of the web page  brings the search engine traffic to your site. Use h1 tag for title and use own title, don’t copy paste the title from another website.


2. Meta tags

Use meta tags of both keyword and description. If you are using custom website, then it will be easy to made the keyword and description meta tag. Blogger and wordpress does not have the option of using meta tags in blog, in wordpress can be achieved by plugin called YOAST.

3. h1 tags

The words inside the h1 tag will be focused first by search engine i.e., robots. The word inside h1 tags will be reed first by search engine.

  1. Title should be in h1 tag.
  2. Use short h1 tag (below 1 line)
  3. Don’t use h1 tags more than once in a webpage.
  4. Use h2 and h3 tags for keyword.

4. Add text to images

Search engine algorithms can only read the text, it can’t read image, flash content or video file. Providing name for the Always add name for picture that to be uploaded.

5. Keyword

Use h1, h2 and h3 tags for keywords, highlight your keyword by bold and underline. Maintain your keyword density as 2% to 3 % only. Don’t use the keyword in the article for more than 5 times.


6. Permalink

A good permalink makes the webpage to be indexed in search engine. Permalink with post name ( title of the article is an added advantage)

7. Content

Content you are writing should be own and it shouldn’t stolen from other site. After publishing your article, when you have noticed that your article content is stolen and used in some other website then, make a warning message to that website and  block that website by DMCA complain.


8. Crawling

Submit your site to google’s search engine. Create an account in google’s webmaster tools, submit your sitemap to google. If you are using wordpress then use sitemap plugin or YOAST plugin have the inbuilt sitemap generator. More concentration will be needed in custom website than the wordpress site for crawling.
